About nibbed
Hand crafted in Kilcoole, Co. Wickow. A female founded, aunt niece duo with a passion for cacao.
Nibbed was born of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, when Lisa Kleiner, a qualified chef witha degree in Nutrition and an MSc in Exercise Nutrition, spent much of the first Iockdown in a cacao making expedition.
Once she came across cacao, she knew she had struck gold and was joined by health-nut niece Anna O'Sullivan, who, with her background in design and wellness marketing, made the perfect partner.
The more they discovered about this magical bean the more they learned about its amazing health benifits. This, coupled with its insanely good taste, inspired them to take a leap to become one of the few Irish Bean to Bar producers with an emphasis on small batch cacao products.
Bean-To-Bar
Bean-to-Bar means we transform tonnes of little cacao beans into cacao blocks, teas and chocolate - all in our facility in Kilcoole, Co. Wick!ow.
The process from bean to bar is, well quite a process. First we lightly roast, winnow [separate the husk from the inner nib) and then stone-ground until it becomes liquid gold.
We are certified organic and we activate the nuts and seeds ourselves, unlocking flavour, nutrition and crunch. We even make our own homemade orange powder.
The Range
The range includes a 100% pure cacao block (for making hot cacao drinks like the Aztecs did), two cacao teas, cacao nibbles, hot chocolate melting spoons and three dark chocolate barks.
Sourcing
The organic cacao beans used to make Nibbed products come from a social enterprise of 168 farms in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic that are fairly traded and organic.
